You will land in Zanzibar international airport and be transferred to the Zaru zanzibar hotel for dinner and overnight.
On this day you will go on an excursion to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone town for the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special spice tour with in-depth information not only about spices but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description of their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour, we invite for an opulent lunch at our guides’ home, where you can taste the spices and fruits. After lunch you will have time to go to Changuu Island also known as Prison Island lies about 30 min by boat from Stone Town. The island was formerly owned by an Arab and saw use for confinement of refractory slaves but no prisoners were ever housed here instead the island became a quarantine station for yellow fever epidemics. It was bought by General Lloyd Mathews and the jail (goal) which still stands was built in 1893 and hence the name “PRISON ISLAND”. In 1919 the British governor of considered vulnerable and has been placed on the IUCN Red List. There is a dedicated foundation on the island which looks after the tortoises’ welfare. This tour includes a visit to the historic Prison Island with its giant land tortoise. While on the island you will be able to observe and feed the tortoises, swim, sunbathe and snorkel dinner and overnight sun Zaru Zanzibar hotel.
The Zanzibar sunset cruise begins when you board a dhow at a nearby beach. A variety of Snacks, beer and soft drinks are served. This are perfectly chilled to your like. The sail takes you to a round trip of Zanzibar. This is another side of Zanzibar from the ocean. The guides will point out the attractions from the boat. Info and stories are told on the same. Enjoy some music as the dhow glides further in to the sea. Sit back, enjoy and relax. The quit sea and cool breeze will enlighten your spirit. It is an awesome feeling. After you step on-board the vessel, the skilled crew on board take the dhow about 1km away from the shore by means of an engine, once out in the sea the engine is shut off and during a tense moment the skilful crew put up the sail, once the sail is in favor of the wind, the guest can sit back, relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the ocean as you hear the ripple of water on the sides of the dhow as it glides swiftly through the clear turquoise water dinner and overnight Zaru Zanzibar hotel.
Day 4 you will visit Kizimkazi. Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. We are doing this trip in the afternoon to avoid the crowds of tourists in the morning, which in big numbers disturbing the dolphins. This is one of our most recommended activities in Zanzibar, where you can swim and snorkel at three different spots (Dolphins, relaxing at the Sandbanks and Snorkeling at the Mnemba reef. Mnemba Island was ranked #1 Best Beach Destination in Africa by tripsavvy. For the sake of precision, Mnemba is a reef and not an Atoll, as sometimes called Mnemba Atoll in many publications and charts. Mnemba is well known for the excellent clarity of its waters (for this area of the Indian Ocean) and the unusually prolific and diverse corals and tropical marine life where you can able to see a lot of colourful fishes while Snorkeling. Some of the species that you can see at Mnemba reef include; Angel Fish, Blue Spotted Rays, Black Snappers, Groupers, Red Tooth Triggers, Flounder, Octopuses, Leaf Fish, Scorpion Fish, Stone Fish, Frog Fish and lots of Travellers. After breakfast you will checkout and before transferred to the airport you will have a small shopping then drive to the airport for your departing back home that will be end of your tour.
